ML girls, Roxbury boys surprise in MCT

Sarah Monteleone scored three goals including the eventual game-winner as Mountain Lakes edged Morristown 7-6 in the semifinal round of the Morris County Tournament for girls lacrosse in Montville.

Mountain Lakes, the fourth seed, advances to play second-seeded Chatham in a rematch of the last two MCT finals.

Chatham 10, Mendham 9

Abby Morgan scored three goals and Catherine McNiff and Emily DeKeyzer had two goals apiece for the Cougars.

Carleigh Mahoney had four goals and Meredith Curtin had a hat trick for the Minutemen.

Boys MCT Lacrosse

Eric D’Armino’s overtime goal lifted Roxbury past Madison 9-8 in quarterfinal round Morris County Tournament action.

It’s the first time the Roxbury program has reached the semifinal round in school history. The Gaels rallied from a 6-3 halftime deficit. Paul Shadel scored with 11 seconds left in regulation to force the overtime period.

Dave Biank had three goals and five assists, and D’Arminio, Shadel and Matt Dancsecs scored two goals each for Roxbury. The Gaels play Delbarton on Saturday.

Jackson Cox had three goals and Pat Grahling and Ian Waresk scored two goals apiece for fifth-seeded Madison.

Chatham 11, Morristown-Beard 5

Conor Byrd scored four times and Mac Bredahl had three goals and three assist to fuel the second-seeded Cougars. Chatham plays Mountain Lakes in the semifinal round on Saturday.

Connor Morin had two goals and an assist for the Crimson.

Delbarton 17, Mendham 3

Casey Shoemaker had four goals, Tom Schelling had two goals and four assists and Michael Long had two goals and three assists for the top seeded Green Wave. Delbarton, the defending MCT champions play Roxbury in the semifinals. Jack Anderson, Quinn Cembrinski and Kevin Sansone scored goals for the Minutemen.

Mountain Lakes 11, West Morris 2

Will Pirolo, John Natoli and Ben Adams each notched hat tricks for the third-seeded Lakers. Mountain Lakes plays Chatham in the semiinals.
