UNION — A 40-second stretch of four fourth-quarter goals capped off the season for Delbarton in a 13-4 triumph over Pingry in the Tournament of Champions title game on Saturday on the turf at Kean University.

Keeghan Khan had four goals and two assists, Michael Rutter had three goals and three assists and Colin Crowley scored twice for the Green Wave to give the school its fifth Tournament of Champions title and second in the last three years.

Delbarton also received scores from Liam Higgins, Sam Johnson, defenseman Jack Kielty and Garrett Samuelsson. Delbarton finished the season at 22-2.

Ben Sheppard scored twice and Austin Chang and Josh Gully added goals for the Big Blue. It was Pingry’s most successful season in the history of the lacrosse program. The Big Blue, which upset top-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan to get to the title game is 17-4.

Delbarton was leading 8-3 to start the fourth quarter when it finished with a flourish. Consecutive scores by Crowley, Kielty, Khan and Rutter made it a 12-3 game with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Crowley connected on a feed from Rutter with 8:55 left to give the Green Wave a double digit lead.

It was more than enough. The Green Wave did a terrific job slowing down Pingry face-off specialist Jamie Zusi with the use of its wingmen to help face-off man Brian Hanley scrap for the ball after the initial draw.

The defense was also its solid self and goalkeeper Chris Crowley made four saves when the Big Blue could put a shot on goal.

In the girls final, Summit rallied from a 6-3 halftime deficit and defeated Ridgewood 11-10 in double overtime on a goal from Callie Humphrey. It is the first T of C title for the Hilltoppers and first for Summit coach Mike Walsh, who was the varsity coach for eight seasons at West Morris Central.
