Morris Knolls, Mount Olive boys win state games

Cole Franchi and Shane Dougherty each registered hat tricks in Morris Knolls 8-6 upset win over Roxbury in Group III state tournament action.

Scot Wells and Parker Campbell added one goals apiece for the Golden Eagles in a close contest. Morris Knolls plays West Morris next. Paul Shadel scored twice for the Gaels.

Mount Olive 13, Warren Hills 6

David Baraniuk and Tyler McCreery fired hat tricks and Griffin Shira scored a pair of goals to lift the Marauders in Group III state tournament action. Zach McCreery had a goal and four assists and Matt Sanchez and Alex Maya had a goal and three assists each for The Marauders. Mount Olive took control with a 9-goal third quarter.

Pequannock 9, North Warren 6

Dan Duffy had two goals and three assists to spark the Golden Panthers in Group I action. Jared Dolak added a hat trick and Liam Lillienthal had a goal and two assists for Pequannock. The Golden Panthers advance to play second-seeded Caldwell.

Randolph 12, Mendham 7

Luc Swedlund scored seven times to spark the Rams to a Group III victory. Jake Southren had a hat trick and Max Pinilis and Matt Holland both had one goal and two assists for Randolph. The Rams play top-seeded Northern Highlands next. Drew Robshaw had five goals and Jack Anderson had two goals and one assist for the Minutemen.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 16, Park Regional 6

Scotch Plains led 11-3 at the half. Park drops to 13-4 in Group III.

Montville 8, Vernon 4

Graham Jespersen’s 3-goal, 2-assist performances paced the Mustangs. Cameron Zuralow and Dan Ackaway scored two goals each for Montville. The Mustangs play Chatham next.

West Morris 14, Phillipsburg 1

Ryan Antonelle had three goals and three assists to spark the Wolfpack. Kyle Skurchak added a hat trick and Cooper Sloan had two goals and two assists for West Morris.

Mountain Lakes 15, Newton 1

Cade Siddron’s four-goal effort paced the Lakers in Group I action. Brendan Monteleone added a hat trick, Ryan Frawley had two goals and three assists and Alex Ratchford had two goals and one assist. The Lakers host Verona next.

Kinnelon 18, Boonton 1

The Colts led 13-0 at the half in Group I action.

Girls Lacrosse

Morristown 18, Watching Hills 6

Sarah Grave Plott scored six goals to pace the Colonials in Group IV action. Goalkeeper Amelia Drake had three saves including her 500th varsity save. Annika Begley scored five times, Callie Sundin had three goals and two assists and Nicole Ferrara had two goals and one assist for Morristown. The Colonials improve to 14-6.
