Favorites prevail in boys MCT


Kyle Skurchak fired a hat trick and Cooper Sloan and Garrett Izzo had two goals apiece to spark West Morris to an 8-6 win over Morristown in the quarterfinal round of the Morris County Tournament on Thursday.

A 3-goal third quarter helped West Morris build a 7-4 advantage going into the final period. The Wolfpack faces Delbarton in the semifinals.

Kendall Rogers had two goals and Bradley Greik, Connor Schwerdt and Joe Doherty also tallied for the fifth-seeded Colonials.

Delbarton 17, Randolph 2

Rory Magadan had two goals nd three assists to pace the top-seeded Green Wave. Sam Johns and Troy Higgins scored two goals apiece for the defending champions.

Chatham 12, Madison 4

Mac Bredahl scored four times to lift the third-seeded Cougars. Austin Pierce had three goals and three assists and Chris Francisco also connected. Chatham is 11-5 and will battle Mountain Lakes in the semifinal round. Ryan Schmitz scored twice and Pat Grahling and Aidan Maseaker added goals for the sixth-seeded Dodgers.

Mountain Lakes 15, Kinnelon 4

Brendan Monteleone scored four goals to spark the second-seeded Lakers. Mountain Lakes led 7-3 at halftime and gradually pulled away. Chet Morgis and Jake Spagnola scored two goals each. Austin Tighe scored twice and Joseph Ballai and Mike Elefonte added scores for the 10th-seeded Colts.
