Benedetto’s OT goal lifts Mountain Lakes to North I title

Trevor Benedetto’s goal with 30 seconds left in overtime lifted Mountain Lakes to an 8-7 triumph over Glen Ridge in the North Group I final on Saturday.

Will Ratchford had a hat trick and Ryan Frawley, Brad Landry, Chet Morgis and Brad Smith also connected for the Lakers. Goalkeeper Kevin Beimfor made eight saves for Mountain Lakes which captured its third consecutive title.

Benedetto hit his open lefty shot while dodging from behind the crease. The Lakers rallied from a 6-4 halftime deficit on consecutive goals by Ratchford, Frawley and Smith. Matt Larkin scored in the fourth quarter for the Ridgers to set up the overtime period.

Group II

Summit 8, Chatham 2

Austin Pierce scored twice in the third quarter for the Cougars. Chatham finishes at 14-10.

Group III

Ridgewood 9, West Morris 0

The Wolfpack finish the season at 12-11..

Delbarton 11, St. Augustine Prep 6

A four-goal fourth quarter helped the Green Wave secure the victory in semifinal round action.

Connor Kirst fired a hat trick and Andrew Ford and Keegan Khan scored two goals apiece. One of Kirst’s goals came off the opening face-off in the fourth quarter to fire up the team. The Green Wave proceeded to score four of the next five goals to secure the win. T.J. Comizio, Emmet Cordrey, Troy Hanlon and Ryan Onderdonk added goals for Delbarton.

Non Public B

Morristown-Beard 8, Rutgers Prep 7

Connor Morin scored twice including the game-winner with four minutes left in regulation to spark the Crimson in semifinal round action.

Morristown-Beard rallied from a 5-2 first-quarter deficit. Chris Glancy scored two goals and Thomas Rago scored twice including the game-tying goal early in the fourth quarter. Teddy Hatfield and John McDonald also connected for Morristown-Beard (17-4).
