Mendham, Mt. Lakes, Morristown girls gain quarterfinal wins

Morriscountylacrosse

Christine Long scored five goals including her 100th career score to spark Mendham to a 13-9 triumph over West Morris in quarterfinal round North III state tournament action on Monday.

Mendham led 9-3 at the half and withstood West Morris’ second-half rally. Mel Curtin had four goals and Carrie Speicher had a goal and two assists for Mendham (11-9).

Cassidy Orban scored six times and Sarah Frankovic, Lauren Hamilton and Jillian Picciuto added goals for West Morris (6-12).

Morristown 17, Mount Olive 2

Casey O’Brien had four goals and three assists and Callie Sundin added four goals to fuel the Colonials’ triumph. Meghan Siverson scored three goals, Maddy Heher had two goals and three assists and Allie Ferrara had two goals and one assist for Morristown (15-7). Sarah McEvoy and Claire Callaghan connected for the Marauders (13-4).

North Group I

Oak Knoll 19, Morris Catholic 6

The Crusaders finish at 12-10. Rachel Mills had three goals and one assist and Rachel Petruska and Lexi Finn also tallied.

Mountain Lakes 15, Villa Walsh 5

Granger Rosati scored six goals and Rachel Treweeke scored four times to spark the Lakers. Sarah Bedard and Natalie LaBeau had two goals each and Charley Orner had a goal and two assists. Julie Krupnick stopped 10 shots to pace the Lakers (11-9).

Caroline Hetzel scored two goals and Annie Collett, Victoria Esposito and Mala Stauder added goals for the Vikings (10-7).

State Tournament

Boys Lacrosse

Justin Dalena scored with 2:18 left in the fourth quarter to lift Madison to a 6-5 triumph over Robbinsville in South Group I state tournament action on Monday.

Dalena and Vin Sapio scored two goals each and Luke Artigliere and A. J. Schmitz also connected for scores. Goalkeeper Nick DiLauri stopped 14 shots for the Dodgers (12-6).

Regular season

Delbarton 13, Kinnelon 3

The Green Wave led 7-2 at the half. The win lifts Delbarton to 17-1.
