Madison wins tournament opener; Montville, Chatham triumph

Justin Dalena fired a hat trick and Vince Sapio and A. J. Schmitz scored two goals apiece to lift Madison to a 15-2 triumph over Shore Regional in opening round South Jersey Group I state tournament play.

Schmitz collected his 100th goal of his career and Luke Artigliere, Charlie Cleaves, Pat Grahling, Ryan Kaye, Sam Roselli, Matt Boyd, Jackson Cox and Ryan Sullivan all registered goals for the second-seeded Dodgers.

Regular season

Pope John 10, Jefferson 4

Trevor Rozmus, Ray Amsden, Peter Chrzanowski and Peyton Faasse connected for the Falcons (12-8).

Delbarton 13, Morristown-Beard 12

Thomas Rago had five goals and Teddy Hatfield registered three goals and six assists for the Crimson. The Green Wave had an 8-5 lead at the half and repelled a late Morristown-Beard run..

Montville 12, Vernon 2

Brendan Kelly scored five goals to spark the Mustangs. Graham Jesperson scored two goals and dished two assists and Pat Sauerborn had a goal and two assists for the Mustangs (6-14).

Montclair 10, Mountain Lakes 9

Ryan Frawley had three goals and two assists and Zander Kotsen had two goals and five assists for the Lakers.

Morris Knolls 16, Kittatinny 1

Andrew Yenesel scored six goals to spark the Golden Eagles (12-6).

Morristown 13, Mendham 6

The Colonials led 9-2 at the end of the first quarter. Bradley Greik scored five goals and Dan Delargy had two goals and two assists for Morristown.The Colonials improve to 8-7.

Chatham 7, Kinnelon 6

The teams were tied 6-6 going into the final period. The Cougars improve to 11-9.

Pequannock 13, Oratory Prep 6

Bryan Peters had one goal and five assists and became the Golden Panthers’ all-time leading scorer. Dan Duffy had four goals and Liam Lilienthal had a hat trick for Pequannock

Mount Olive 14, Lenape Valley 4

Mark Laratta had five goals and one assist and Griffen Shira had a hat trick for the Marauders (11-6).
