Villa, Mendham, Morristown girls capture early round state games

Victoria Esposito scored five goals and Katie Kelly had a hat trick to lift Villa Walsh to a 13-10 triumph over New Providence in state tournament girls lacrosse action on Wednesday. The Vikings took a 7-3 edge at the half and maintained an advantage for the win. Villa Walsh is 10-6.

Mountain Lakes 17, Pascack Hills 2

The Lakers are 10-9. Grainger Rosati had three goals and two assists and Natalie LaBeau and Sarah Bedard also registered hat tricks for Mountain Lakes.

Morris Catholic 19, Glen Rock 6

Lexi Finn had five goals and six assists to power the Crusaders. Haley Driscoll an Rachel Mills each scored four goals and Rachel Petruska had a hat trick for Morris Catholic (11-9).

Glen Ridge 17, Pequannock 10

Arden Kassaleh scored six goals for the Golden Panthers.

Group III

Mendham 14, Wayne Valley 2

The Minutemen are 10-9. Christine Long and Christine Graziano notched three goals and one assist each for the second-seeded Minutemen. Meri Curtin had two goals and two assists and Katie McDonald had two goals and one assist to earn the win.

West Morris 11, Pascack Hills 5

Mackenzie Metzler 4-goal performance helped the Wolfpack advance. Jillian Picciuto, Allison Wagner and Cassidy Orban had two goals apiece and Kristin Sona had one goal and three assists for West Morris (6-10)

Morristown 20, Wayne Hills 9

Meghan Siverson had four goals and two assists to fuel the Colonials’ triumph. Casey O’Brien had four goals and an assist, Allie Ferrara had three goals and three assists and Maddy Heher had three goals and two assists for Morristown (14-7).

Mount Olive 12, Paramus 4

Sarah McEvoy scored five goals to propel the Marauders. Claire Callaghan added four goals and Amber Gonzalez, Anna Murray and Gina Verrone added goals for Mount Olive. The Marauders face Morristown next.

Group III

Princeton 13, Roxbury 9

Emma Karnitsky and Mia Sadowski netted hat tricks for the Gaels.

Boys Lacrosse

Randolph 14, North Warren 6

The Rams led 7-3 at the half. Jake Southren had five goals and five assists and Matt Potter had four goals for Randolph.

Passaic Valley 11, Boonton 10, OT

The Bombers rallied to force overtime. Joe Norton and Connor Davis each fired hat tricks.

Livingston 15, Park Regional 3

Park drops to 9-7.
