Morris Catholic girls shock Villa in MCT action

Lexi Finn’s crease-roll score with 24.1 seconds left provided the difference in Morris Catholic’s 11-10 upset victory in the opening round of the Morris County Tournament. It is the Crusader’s first trip to the quarterfinals in tournament history. Finn finished with four goals and Haley Driscoll had a hat trick for 11th-seeded Morris Catholic. Annie Collett had four goals and an assist and Mala Stauder had a hat trick for the sixth-seeded Vikings.Morris Catholic plays third seeded Mendham next.

Mendham 19, Kinnelon 6

Christine Graziano scored four goals to pace the Minutemen. Meri Curtin and Christine Long fired hat tricks and Carlye Maita and Katie McDonald scored two goals apiece for Mendham. Kinnelon twins Ashley and Victoria Bobinski scored two goals each for the 14th-seeded Colts.

West Morris 18, Morris Knolls 7

Cassidy Orban scored five goals and had three assists to lift the fourth-seeded Wolfpack. Jillian Picciuto had four goals and Lauren Hamilton had a hat trick. The game was tied 3-3 early before West Morris pulled away with seven consecutive goals against 13th-seeded Morris Knolls.West Morris hosts Morristown next.

Morristown 18, Pequannock 5

Meghan Siverson scored six times to pace the fifth-seeded Colonials. Maddy Heher added four goals and Casey O’Brien, Caroline Hersh and Callie Sundin scored two goals apiece. Danielle Musto had a hat trick and Arden Kassaleh scored twice for the 12th-seeded Golden Panthers.

Chatham 15, Montville 1

Bridget Ballard fired a hat trick to spark the top-seeded Cougars’ romp. Emily Wingate, Abby Morgan and Morgan Sullivan added two goals each for Chatham. Kelsey Perretta connected for the 16th-seeded Mustangs. Chatham plays Madison in the quarterfinal round. Madison defeated Roxbury 7-6 on Thursday.

St. Elizabeth 8, Park Regional 6

Bella Ferriso had a hat trick to lift the Panthers. Julia Darcy and Raquel Fajardo added two goals each for Academy of St. Elizabeth.

Bridgewater-Raritan 6, Mountain Lakes 5, 2 OT

Brad Smith fired a hat trick and Ryan Frawley and Chet Morgis notched a goal apiece for the Lakers.

Hunterdon Central 11, Chatham 7

Austin Pierce scored five goals for the Cougars. Chatham drops to 7-8.

West Morris 9, Kinnelon 6

Garrett Izzo fired a hat trick and Ryan Antonelle scored once and distributed six assists for the Wolfpack. Cooper Sloan scored twice and Kyle Skurchak and Pat Kennedy added goals for West Morris.
