Jefferson boys edge Morris Hills; Mt. Olive girls advance

Matt Bush connected with 1:25 remaining in regulation to lift Jefferson to a 2-1 win over Morris Hills in preliminary round Morris County Tournament boys lacrosse action on Friday. Trevor Rozmus added a third-quarter score for Jefferson (10-6). The 16th-seeded Falcons play Delbarton next. John Malley stopped nine shots. Logan Sickles connected for the 17th-seeded Scarlet Knights.

Mendham 11, Boonton 5 

The 14th-seeded Minutemen are 3-9. Chandler Avellone had five goals and an assist to pace Mendham. Drew Robshaw added a hat trick and Jack Anderson and Seamus McDonald tallied one goal and one assist each. Mendham plays third-seeded Chatham next. Joe Norton had a hat trick for the 19th-seeded Bombers.

Girls Lacrosse

Morris County Tournament 

Mountain Lakes 17, Jefferson 2

The second-seeded Lakers improve to 7-8. Avery Holland had a hat trick and Hannah Cronk, Sarah Montelone, Natale LaBeau and Granger Rosati scored two goals each. Kendra Nolan and Jenna Prezwodek each scored goals for the Falcons. Mountain Lakes will host Mount Olive in the quarterfinals.

Mount Olive 12, Randolph 9

Sarah McEvoy’s 5-goal performance lifted the seventh-seeded Marauders to the quarterfinal round. Amber Gonzalez and Gina Verrone scored two goals apiece for Mount Olive (11-1). Kelly McGinniss scored four goals and Jill Fantuzzi scored twice for the 10th-seeded Rams.

Regular Season

Madison 13, Caldwell 9

Catherine Crowley scored five goals, Laney Rutland had a hat trick and Kaitlyn Hanley scored twice for the Dodgers.

Verona 14, Kinnelon 11

Ashley Bobinski had four goals and two assists for the Colts (5-11).

Villa Walsh 16, Columbia 7

Annie Collett had four goals and one assist to pace the Vikings. Victoria Esposito and katie Kelly registered hat tricks and Kate Mulcahy had two goals and two assists.
