ML boys edge Mo-Beard; Randolph, Jefferson earn victories


Brad Smith had six goals and three assists to lift Mountain Lakes to a 15-13 triumph over Morristown-Beard in boys lacrosse action on Saturday.

Ryan Frawley had three goals and four assists, Will Ratchford scored twice and Trevor Benedetto had one goal and three assists including the eventual game winner for Mountain Lakes (8-1).

The loss knocked the Crimson (8-1) from the unbeaten ranks. Mountain Lakes led 5-0 in the first quarter but Morristown-Beard rallied to take a 9-7 advantage at the half. Thomas Rago scored four goals, Connor Morin and Kevin Gill had hat tricks and Teddy Hatfield had two goals and three assists for the Crimson.

Randolph 8, Vernon 7

The Rams even their mark at 5-5. Jake Southren and Max Pinilis fired hat tricks and Luc Swedlund had two goals and two assists.

Park Regional 18, Boonton 8

Kevin Goettlich had nine goals and three assists to fuel Park. Gavin McGrath had four goals and Joe Jannicelli had a hat trick for Park Regional (6-2). Frank Rao scored four times for the Bombers.

Morris Catholic 14, Newton 6

Doug Dunn scored seven goals and Matt Graziano notched three goals and dished five assists for the Crusaders.

Jefferson 6, Morris Hills 5

The Falcons even their record to 5-5. Matt Bush had two goals and two assists and Gill Bendan scored twice for Jefferson. The Falcons led 5-2 at the half and held on for the win. Zach Berkowitz, Gavin Ciccia and Jack Binkoski tallied for the Scarlet Knights.

Pequannock 10, Montville 4

Bryan Peters scored his 100th varsity goal to spark the Golden Panthers. Peters had four goals and two assists and Dan Duffy scored twice and had three assists for Pequannock. Pat Sauerborn and Graham Jespersen had two goals each for the Mustangs.

Madison 12, Morristown 7

A.J. Schmitz scored seven times to power the Dodgers. Vince Sapio scored twice and Justin Dalena and Ethan Tannen added a goal and an assist. Bradley Greik scored three times for the Colonials.

Sparta 9, Mount Olive 8

The Marauders drop to 6-3, Mark Laratta had a hat trick and Griffen Shira had two goals and one assist.

Morris Knolls 16, North Warren 6

Reed Pelliconi scored five times to pace the Golden Eagles. Andrew Yenesel had three goals and three assists, Shane Dougherty had two goals and four assists and Matt Mitarotonda had a goal and an assist for Morris Knolls (6-2).

West Morris 7, St. Peter’s Prep 3

Ryan Antonelle had two goals and an assist to help the Wolfpack cause. West Morris trailed 3-2 going into the final period but pulled away with a 5-goal fourth quarter. Kyle Skurchak added two goals and Cooper Sloan had a goal and four assists.
