Delbarton tops Summit, Mountain Lakes, Chatham open winners

Connor Kirst scored three goals including the game-winner with 1:17 left to play to lift Delbarton to a 5-4 win over Summit in a rematch of last year’s state finalists.

Ryan Onderdonk and Emmet Cordrey also connected for the Green Wave in an opening day triumph. John Cree stopped five shots for Delbarton.

Mountain Lakes 7, Kinnelon 4

Trevor Benedetto had two goals and one assist and Ryan Frawley added a goal and three assist to pace the Lakers in an opening day win. Travis Rode scored a pair of goals for the rival Colts.

Chatham 12, Bernards 2

The Cougars led 5-1 at halftime and pulled away. Will Barnett had three goals and five assists and Thomas Berger had four goals and an assist for Chatham (1-0).

Westfield 15, Mendham 3

The Blue Devils took control with a 6-1 edge in the opening quarter.

Lenape Valley 5, Jefferson 4

The teams were tied 4-4 going into the final quarter.

Morris Catholic 10, J. P. Stevens 5

Matt Graziano had four goals and five assists to pace the Crusaders. Carl Wendt and Brandon Kamholz both registered hat tricks for Morris Catholic.

Governor Livingston 9, Morris Hills 7

Zach Berkowitz scored five times for the Scarlet Knights.

Sparta 10, Morristown 8

Kendall Rogers and Brad Greik scored three goals apiece and Dan Delargy had a goal and two assists for the Colonials.

Pope John 11, Montville 4

Alec Lewis notched a pair of goals for the Mustangs.

Mount Olive 12, Roxbury 4

Mark Laratta had three goals and two assists and Matthew Sanchez fired a hat trick for the Marauders. A five-goal third quarter helped Mount Olive build a 10-2 edge going into the final period.
