Chatham girls edge Madison in state quarterfinal, 10-9



Morgan Sullivan and Maggie O’Neill fired hat tricks to lift Chatham to a narrow 10-9 win over Madison in North Group II state tournament girls lacrosse play.

Maddy Bowles had two goals and an assist and Cougars goalkeeper Gislina Saul stopped six shots.  Alex Frenzel and Emily Wingate also added goals for Chatham. Sophie Smith and Ari Goret scored three goals apiece and Michelle Montagna added two goals and an assist. Freshman Catherine Crowley also tallied for the Dodgers. The Cougars had a narrow 5-4 advantage at the half. Chatham plays top-seeded Summit, a 16-3 winner over Delaware Valley, in the semifinal round.



Delbarton defensemen Peter Welch and Chad Otterman were chosen to be part of the Under-Armour All-American Lacrosse Classic.

They join Owen Molloy of Ridge as the only New Jersey players taking part in the showcase which takes place on July 12 at 5 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University in Towson, Maryland.
