Morris Catholic, Mt. Lakes, Kinnelon girls advance in states

Rachel Petruska scored four goals to spark Morris Catholic to a 16-8 triumph over Pequannock in North Group I state tournament girls lacrosse action on Thursday.

Rachel Mills had three goals and three assists, Taylor Shannahan had two goals and three assists and Lexi Finn had two goals and five assists for the Crusaders. Morris Catholic’s 14th victory tied a record for most wins in a season. Alyssa Tachon fired a hat trick to pace the Golden Panthers. Morris Catholic advances to play Kent Place in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday.

Mountain Lakes 19, Glen Rock 7

Sarah Bedard and Victoria Kalamaras scored four goals apiece to lift the Lakers in North Group I state play.

Jackie Perry had three goals and one assist for Mountain Lakes. The Lakers led 13-2 at the half. Ten different players in all scored for Mountain Lakes. The Lakers host Kinnelon in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Kinnelon 24, Newark Academy 14

Victoria Bobinski and Talia Price each registered five goals and two assists to fuel the Colts in North Group I play.

Jamie Lewit had four goals and three assists and Izzy Berezni and Ashley Bobinski each had three goals and two assists. Kinnelon led 15-6 at the half in the wild scoring contest.

Villa Walsh 14, Kittatinny 5

Christina Pallitto had four goals and four assists to power the Vikings in North Group I. Kelly Holt added three goals and an assist and Taylor Medd and Katie Mulcahy scored two goals each for Villa Walsh. The Vikings host Verona next.

Mendham 18, Warren Hills 3

Christine Graziano had six goals and one assist to lift the Minutemen in North Group III action.

Kira Lopes added three goals for the Minutemen. Christine Long, Carrie Speicher and Carlye Maita scored two goals each for Mendham. The top-seeded Minutemen host Vernon next.

Morristown 16, Roxbury 8

Allie Ferrara had five goals and two assists to pace the Colonials in North Group III. Casey O’Brien had three goals and two assists, Maddy Heher had two goals and two assists and Meghan Siverson scored twice for Morristown. The Colonials host West Morris in the quarterfinals.

West Morris 17, Wayne Valley 2

The Wolfpack led 10-0 at the half to earn their sixth victory of the season. Sydney Sapir had five goals and two assists, Chelsea Orban had four goals and one assist and Paige Burton fired a hat trick for West Morris.

Montville 19, Mount Olive 4

Abby Haimson scored seven goals and tied the school record by scoring her 303rd career varsity goal. Nicole Dvoretsky connected for six goals in the Group III triumph. Claire Callaghan and Sarah McEvoy scored two goals apiece for the Marauders. Montville travels to play Northern Highlands in the quarterfinal round.

Saddle River Day 18, Morristown-Beard 12

Carolyn Chambers had five goals and one assist for the Crimson in the North Group I contest. Saddle River Day led 11-6 at the half.

Wednesday

Delaware Valley 10, Jefferson 9

The Falcons drop to 14-3 with the loss.

St. Elizabeth 10, Passaic Valley 8

Julia Darcy had three goals and three assists and Emilia Scalaro added three goals for the Panthers. Senior goalie Gianna Falcone stopped 15 shots in all.

Regular season

Morris Hills 16, High Point 1

Zach Berkowitz had four goals and two assists to lift the Scarlet Knights. Conor Pelkey notched a hat trick and goalie Nick Draney stopped five shots and also had an assist for Morris Hills.

Chatham 6, Kinnelon 5

Scott Lynch scored with 15 seconds left in regulation to give the Cougars the win. David Gill notched a pair of goals and assisted on the game winner. Rich Berger also had a pair of assists. Robert Lewis scored twice for Kinnelon.

Morristown-Beard 18, Vernon 3

Teddy Hatfield scored four goals and dished six assists for the Crimson. Thomas Rago scored four goals and notched five assists. Morristown-Beard led 16-0 at the half.

Montville 10, Mount Olive 8

A two-goal second quarter helped the Mustangs build an 8-5 lead going into the final period. Alec Oriolo and Travis Gerdes scored two goals each for the Marauders.
