Mendham, Chatham boys advance in MCT


Chandler Avallone scored four goals and dished three assists to lift Mendham to a 13-7 triumph over Roxbury in Morris County Tournament boys lacrosse opening round action on Monday.

Will Robinson scored four times, Tim Gillespie had two goals and two assists and Drew Robshaw added a goal for the seventh-seeded Minutemen (6-6). Mendham faces Mountain Lakes next. Will Doran notched a hat trick for the 10th-seeded Gaels (11-4).

Chatham 13, Mount Olive 5

An 8-0 first half effort was all the third-seeded Cougars (11-5) needed to advance to the quarterfinals. The 14th-seeded Marauders dropped to (4-9).

Regular Season

Newton 12, Jefferson 9

A 4-2 third-quarter outburst gave the Braves a 9-6 lead going into the final period.

Delbarton 15, Westfield 6

Conor Mackie and Will McCarthy registered four goals apiece to lift the Green Wave. J. J. McBride tallied twice and also produced nine assists. A five-goal second quarter gave Delbarton an 8-1 halftime advantage.


Morristown-Beard 23, Princeton Day School 16

Jill Burke had six goals and two assists and Alissa Masini scored five times in the semifinal round of the Prep tournament. Chelsea Kramer had four goals and Meg Damstron and Carolyn Chambers each had three goals and two assists for the Crimson (6-4). Morristown-Beard led 13-8 at the half. They will play Newark Academy in the title game.

Regular Season

Pequannock 14, Lenape Valley 8

Alyssa Tachon registered seven goals and two assists for the Golden Panthers. Daniel Musto had two goals and three assists for Pequannock (7-9).

Villa Walsh 18, Governor Livingston 12

Taylor Medd had six goals and three assists to fuel the Vikings. Victoria Esposito fired a hat trick and Christina Pallitto had two goals and an assist for Villa Walsh.

Morris Catholic 13, Vernon 2

Lexi Finn had two goals and seven assists in the Crusaders’ triumph. Taylor Shannahan scored five times and five other Morris Catholic players tallied.

Jefferson 9, Roxbury 5

Kara Hodapp scored six goals to spark the Falcons. Jefferson outscored Roxbury 8-4 in the second half. Sophomore Kendra Nolan added a hat trick. Katie Cikovski notched a pair of goals for the Gaels.

Morris Hills 17, Park Regional 14

Kellyann Gangaware and Kyleigh Miller scored four goals apiece to lift the Scarlet Knights. Jenna Gallagher and Carli Cohen added hat tricks for Morris Hills. Melissa Wamp scored six times and Michaela Tricola added five goals for Park.

Mount Olive 14, Boonton 3

Clair Callaghan scored five goals and Deanna Spagnola and sophomore Sarah McEvoy each had hat tricks for the Marauders. Meghan Mollahan had two goals and one assist for the Bombers.
