Mt. Olive boys, Montville girls advance in MCT


Mark Laratta scored four goals and dished an assist to lift Mount Olive to a 13-2 win over Boonton in preliminary round Morris County Tournament action on Friday.

Alex Maya had three goals and two assists, Alex Oriolo had three goals and one assist and Matthew Sanchez had a goal and four assists for the 14th-seeded Marauders. Mount Olive had an 8-0 advantage at the half. The Marauders play third-seeded Chatham in the opening round.

Morris Hills 8, Jefferson 5

Zach Berkowitz scored four consecutive goals in the first half to spark the 16th-seeded Scarlet Knights. Derek Zacatenco added three goals for Morris Hills, which broke out to a 7-0 third-quarter advantage. Morris Hills plays top-seeded and defending champion Delbarton next. Trevor Rozma scored twice for the 17th-seeded Falcons.

Regular Season

Roxbury 16, North Warren 6

Will Doran scored three goals and dished two assists and Phil Caltagirone fired a hat trick for the Gaels. Roxbury took control early with a 6-1 first-quarter spurt.

Rutgers Prep 9, Morristown-Beard 6

Thomas Rago scored three times for the Crimson. Rutgers Prep led 6-3 at the half.

Girls Lacrosse


Montville 21, Morristown-Beard 8

Abby Haimson scored a school record 11 goals to lift the Mustangs in MCT action.

Nicole Dvoretsky added six goals and two assists and Carly DeNigris scored twice for eighth seeded Montville. The Mustangs took control with a 12-4 first-half effort. Montville plays Mountain Lakes in the quarterfinal round. Meg Damstrom had a hat trick and Katie Hunt scored twice for Morristown-Beard.

Mountain Lakes 17, Randolph 2

Grainger Rosati scored four times and Victoria Kalamaras had three goals and five assists for the top-seeded Lakers. Kelly McGinniss and Dana Shalit connected for the 16th-seeded Rams.

West Morris 11, Morris Catholic 5

A 7-2 second-half effort vaulted the fourth-seeded Wolfpack. Sydney Sapir had three goals and one assist, Mackenzie Metzler had two goals and one assist and Julia Radossich scored twice for West Morris. Taylor Shannahan fired a hat trick for the 13th-seeded Crusaders.

Regular Season

Chatham 18, Kent Place 7

The Cougars led 14-2 at the half. Maddy Bowles had four goals and two assists, Bridget Ballard had four goals and one assist and Maggie O’Neill and Emily Wingate fired hat tricks for Chatham.

Lenape Valley 16, Park Regional 15

Melissa Wamp scored 10 goals and had two assists and Michaela Tricola added a hat trick for Park.

West Essex 14, Mendham 6

Christina Graziano had three goals and one assist and Carrie Speicher scored twice for the Cougars.
