WASHINGTON TWP. (Morris)  — Defending champion Delbarton captured the top seed at the Morris County Tournament Boys Lacrosse seeding meeting held at West Morris Central High School on Tuesday.

Mountain Lakes, Chatham and Morristown-Beard rounded out the top four seeds. The fourth seed is believed to be the highest seed in the history of the Crimson boys lacrosse program.

The 20-team tournament begins with a qualifying round on May 3. The semifinals will be played at noon and 2:30 p.m. at Madison High School on Saturday, May 10. The title game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at FDU-Florham.

Delbarton (8-2) is unbeaten against Morris County opponents and had regular season wins over Mountain Lakes (11-2) and Chatham (8-5). Morristown-Beard is unbeaten at 12-0 but plays a slightly weaker schedule. Kinnelon (7-3), West Morris (6-6), Mendham (5-4) and Pequannock (9-4) round out the top eight.

Last year Delbarton got off to a strong start and then withheld a late rush to defeat Chatham 10-7 in the final. It was the Green Wave’s 12th MCT title.

Preliminary round games must be played on or by May 3 at the site of the higher seeded team. Opening round games are to be played on or by May 6 and quarterfinals by May 8, also at the higher seed.
