Mt. Lakes boys win in OT; Mo-Beard improves to 7-0


Christian Cuccinello scored scored the game winning goal in overtime and lifted Mountain Lakes to a 10-9 win over Ridgewood in boys lacrosse action on Thursday.

Cuccinello scored five times. He used a crease dodge and placed a righty shot into the left corner for the game-winning goal. Brad Smith had a goal and four assists and David Thompson, Zach Lesko, Zander Kotsen and John Reuben each tallied once for the Lakers (5-1). Matt Shippee and Matt LoParo each had hat tricks for the Maroons. Ridgewood rallied with four goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 9-all.

Chatham 15, Westfield 12

Rich Berger had four goals and two assists to lift the Cougars (4-2).

Chatham rallied from an 8-5 halftime deficit and scored nine consecutive goals in the third quarter to take control. Thomas Berger had three goals and two assists and David Gill and Austin Pierce also notched hat tricks.

Morristown-Beard 18, Livingston 14

Teddy Hatfield scored six times and dealt four assists in the unbeaten Crimson’s triumph. Thomas Rago added six goals and two assists and Chris Glancy had three goals and two assists for Morristown-Beard (7-0).

Morris Knolls 8, Morris Hills 7

Shane Dougherty fired a hat trick and Sean Lorenz scored twice to spark the Golden Eagles in the battle between sister schools. Zach Berkowitz and Derek Zacatenco fired hat tricks for the Scarlet Knights.

West Essex 7, Mendham 6

The Knights rallied with a 6-3 effort in the second half. Five different players connected for the Minutemen.

Bernards 7, Morristown 6

The Mountaineers led 6-4 at the half and held on for the win.

Pequannock 10, Montville 5

A 5-goal third quarter gave the Golden Panthers an 8-3 edge going into the final period. Bryan Peters had four goals and an assist and Liam Lilienthal had two goals and three assists for Pequannock (5-1).

Graham Jesperson scored twice for the Mustangs (4-2).

Jefferson 10, Passaic Valley 2

Jorgenson Kyle hat a hat trick and Garrett Richards and Brendan Gill scored two goals each for the Falcons.

Jefferson led 8-0 at the half.

Pope John 9, Mount Olive 8, OT

Matt Sanchez had three goals and two assists and Travis Gerdes scored twice for the Marauders. Sean Ferguson scored four times for the Lions.

Summit 6, West Morris 5, OT

Matt Carfaro, Maxx Evans and Cooper Sloan each registered goals during the tight contest. West Morris led 2-1 at the half and the teams were tied at 3-all after three quarters.

Mount Olive 13, High Point 7

Claire Callaghan scored five goals and Sarah McEvoy had two goals and three assists to fuel the Marauders. Nicole Chirico and Brittany Leuthe scored two goals each for Mount Olive.

Jefferson 13, Kittatinny 5

Danielle Pini scored her 100th varsity goal to lift the unbeaten Falcons. Kara Hodapp had six goals and one assist and Kendra Nolan scored five times for Jefferson (5-0). The Falcons took control early with a 9-0 edge at the half. Molly Fitzpatrick scored twice for Kittatinny.

Governor Livingston 15, Boonton 9

Meghan Mollahan fired a hat trick. Emily Sorochynskyj had two goals and two assists and Natalie VanDeVliet scored twice for the Bombers.

Union Catholic 21, Park Regional 17

Park Regional led 10-9 at the half.

Newark Academy 12, St. Elizabeth 5

The Minutemen had a 6-2 advantage at the half.
