Williams, Reynolds, Guida earn All-America honors

Ridge midfielder Eric Scott was named Player of the Year and Delbarton’s Austin Williams and Will Reynolds were named Midfielder of the Year and Defenseman of the Year respectively by the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Summit’s Austin Carbone was chosen Attackman of the Year and Ridgewood’s Noah Pounds was chosen Goalie of the Year by the state’s coaches at their end-of-the-season meeting. Rutgers Prep coach J.J. Quenault was selected Coach of the Year. All the Northern New Jersey All-Americans and Scholastic All-Americans were honored in between Gill Gibbs Classic Senior Showcase games that were held at last week’s Lacrosse Festival in Madison.

Twenty players representing North Jersey were honored at the event. The only other Morris County All-American selected was Chatham midfielder Thomas Guida.

Harvard-bound Williams snagged 108 ground balls for the Green Wave. At times he was dominating on the face-off circle and won more than 60 percent of his draws. He also had eight goals and two assists with many of those goals coming directly after capturing the draw and taking the ball to the cage.

Reynolds was a 3-year starter for Delbarton. A strong technical player with terrific physical skills, he can defend almost any opponent because of his combination of strength and quickness. He grabbed 30 ground balls and He will attend Princeton University in the fall.

Guida had 45 goals and 18 assists and was a key offense force for the Group II champion Chatham team. He is a very fearless and productive dodger with a wicked shot. The junior attackman has made a verbal commitment to Johns Hopkins University.

Among the Academic All-Americans that were also honored at the showcase was Delbarton’s Andrew Higgins.
