Morris Catholic girls advance in MCT

Taylor Shannahan scored five goals to lift Morris Catholic to a 17-3 triumph over Boonton in preliminary round Morris County Tournament play on Monday.

Amanda Migoya, Rose Dimaggio, Lexi Finn, Rachel Canning and Tina Nissany scored two goals apiece for the 13th-seeded Crusaders (6-7). Humma Sheikh, Meghan Mollahan and Julia Agresti scored goals for the 20th-seeded Bombers (4-7).

Morris Hills 17, Kittatinny 13, OT.

The Scarlet Knights scored four times in the overtime period to take the win. Ashley Lovenberg scored seven times for Morris Hills (5-6). The Scarlet Knights had a 7-5 edge at the half.

St. Elizabeth 12, Pope John 10

Carolyn Byrnes scored seven goals to pace the Panthers. Gianna Falcone had 19 saves for St. Elizabeth (6-6).

Sparta 18, Jefferson 5

Kara Hodapp and Danielle Pini scored two goals apiece for the Falcons (2-1). The Spartans improve to 12-0.

Boys Lacrosse

North Warren 15, Hanover Regional 5

The Patriots led 8-1 at the half. Park drops to 3-8 with the loss.

Morristown-Beard 12, A. L. Johnson 7

Ted Hatfield had three goals and two assists for the Crimson (7-4). John McDonald had three goals and one assist and Tom Rago had three goals and one assist for Morristown-Beard.

Hillsborough 14, Mount Olive 6

The Marauders fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. Eric Weiss had two goals and one assist for Mount Olive (10-1).

Morris Hills 15, Wallkill Valley 2

Zach Berkowitz scored five times and Steve Rome had a goal and five assists for the Scarlet Knights. Morris Hills scored nine first-quarter goals to take control of the contest.
