Morris Knolls boys, Jefferson girls triumph in openers

Andrew Caseles scored the game-winning goal with 21 seconds left in overtime to lift Morris Knolls to a 10-9 triumph over North Warren on the opening day for lacrosse on Monday.

Caseles also assisted on Jeremy Kopecky’s tying goal with a minute left in the fourth quarter. Jon Engels led the Golden Eagles with three goals.

Mount Olive 14, Roxbury 4 – Eric Weiss scored five goals and dished two assists and Chris Sanchez had four goals and two assists for the Marauders. Mount Olive led 10-1 at the half.

Millburn 12, Morristown-Beard 11, OT – Nathan Weinrauch had two goals and three assists including the game-winning goal with 16 seconds left in overtime. John McDonald scored four goals and Ted Hatfield fired a hat trick for the Crimson.

Verona 8, Boonton 6 – Ian Taylor scored twice and Derek Zacaetenco had one goal and one assist for the Bombers.

St. Peter’s Prep 9, Morristown 8 – Chris Drake scored five goals for the Colonials (0-1).

Pequannock 14, Jefferson 2 — The Golden Panthers led 12-1 at the half. Liam Lillienthal had five goals and two assists for Pequannock (1-0).

Summit 12, Mendham 5 – The Minutemen drop to 0-1.

Warren Hills 10, Morris Catholic 4 – The Crusaders fall to 0-1.

Girls Lacrosse

Jefferson 10, Morristown-Beard 9 – Darby Nolan scored four goals and Kara Hodapp fired a hat trick for the Falcons. Dawn Flinn scored three goals and Carolyn Chambers and Alissa Masini scored two goals apiece.

Villa Walsh 16, Mount St. Dominic 14 – Candice Pallitto scored 11 goals including seven in the second half for the Vikings.

Morristown 15, Ramapo 6 – Brady Heher and Meghan Siverson scored four goals each for the Colonials.

Vernon 13, St. Elizabeth 4 – The Panthers drop to 0-1.
