The boys state lacrosse seeding is up. Here’s a look at how the Groups shape up for the Morris County teams. All games will be scheduled for Saturday, May 21, Tuesday, May 24, Thursday, May 26 and the sectional finals will be on Friday, May 28. It is advised to double check with the schools for possible changes of dates and times.

Group I

Mountain Lakes earned the top seed in Group I. The Lakers will play the winner of No. 17 New Providence and No. 16 Verona. Following that they will face either No. 9 Robbinsville or their old nemesis No. 8 Madison.

No. 13 Pequannock must get past No. 21 New Egypt before traveling to play Rumson, the fourth seed in the bracket. No. 10 Kinnelon will have to get past No. 7 Bernards before it has a chance to advance. No. 2 Mahway is the top team in the lower bracket. No. 3 Glen Ridge and No. 5 West Essex are also dangerous.

 Group II

No. 17 Jefferson must edge past No. 16 Indian Hills for the honor of facing defending T of C champion Summit. No. 9 Montville can earn a chance for a shot at the Hilltoppers if it can get past No. 8 Hopewell Valley.

No. 5 Mendham will host the winner of 21st-seeded Lawrence and No. 12 Red Bank. No. 4 Somerville is also a dangerous upper bracket team.

No. 2 Chatham is the top seed of the lower bracket. The Cougars play the winner of No. 18 Morris Hills and No. 15 Pascack Valley. No. 3 Ramapo, No. 6 Northern Highlands and No. 7 Sparta are also capable teams.

Group III

Ridgewood is the top seed in the Group. No. 12 West Morris hosts Mainland the 21st seed. The winner travels to No. 5 Moorestown’s turf. No. 20 Morris Knolls travels to face Kingsway the 13th seed. That winner goes on to play Mount Olive, the Group’s No. 4 seed.

Roxbury is seeded 19th. The Gaels must top No. 14 Wall for a chance at No. 3 Shawnee. Morristown is also alive in Group III. The sixth-seeded Colonials will battle the winner of No. 22 Hightstown and No. 11 Vernon. No. 2 Ridge and No. 7 Princeton are also teams to watch out for in the bottom bracket.

It’s no surprise that Mountain Lakes and Delbarton are top seeds in this year’s state tournament. Play starts on May 21.

Group IV

Randolph is the only local qualifier. The Rams are the 11th seed and they will host No. 22 Egg Harbor. The winner moves on to face No. 6 Montgomery. Once considered the weakest of the Groups, Group IV gets better and better each year. No. 1 Hunterdon Central, No. 2 Bridgewater-Raritan, No. 3 Hillsborough, No. 5 Montclair and No. 9 Westfield are capable teams.

Non-Public A

Games in the Non Public section don’t start until May 24th. Delbarton is the top seed and will face the winner of No. 9 St. Peter’s Prep and No. 8 Bergen Catholic. No. 2 St. Augustine Prep, No. 3 Don Bosco Prep, No. 4 Seton Hall Prep and No. 6 Christian Brothers Academy all stand out.

Non Public B

The group has no Morris County teams. The closest are No. 5 Pingry, No. 6 Newark Academy and No. 9 Oratory Prep. Immaculata was chosen the No. 1 seed followed by No. 2 Montclair Kimberly Academy.
